About StackPick
StackPick exists because of a simple problem: if you search for "best X software" today, most of page one is written by the vendors themselves, ranking themselves first. The rest is often thin roundups that have never installed the product.
Who we are
StackPick is run by a working software engineer with a decade of experience building web applications and browser extensions. That background shapes how we review: we read the technical evidence (store metrics, permission audits, changelogs, bug reports), not just marketing pages.
How we review
- Claims get fact-checked. Every marketing number ("50,000+ users!", "300% more sales!") is checked against public data sources where they exist, and flagged when they can't be verified.
- Prices are verified from official pages and re-checked quarterly. We note the date of every price check.
- User complaints are weighted — we read 1-star reviews before 5-star ones, because that's where the failure modes live.
- We publish our criteria. If a ranking can't show its scoring method, it doesn't ship.
- Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the top of every monetized page, and commission rates never alter scores. See our full disclosure policy.
Editorial independence
Vendors cannot pay for placement, review our drafts, or see scores before publication. When a sponsored position exists on a page, it is labeled on the card itself. When we have an affiliate relationship with a tool, the article says so in plain language.
Correction policy
Found an error? Facts matter more than pride. Every article carries an update date, and substantive corrections are logged at the bottom of the article.
